Fork lift accident figures revealed

The UK’s road freight industry has seen a 237% increase in lift truck-related injuries to workers in the last decade, giving it the worst fork lift safety record of all sectors of the economy, figures show.

Data released by the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) as part of National Fork Lift Safety Week reveal that since 2001/02, the road transport industry has moved from being the fifth worst in the country to having more accidents involving that type of vehicle than the next four industries put together.

A FLTA study found that the number of haulage employees injured by forklift trucks rose from 114 in 2001/02 to 384 in 2009/10.
